Velodona togata is a deep-sea octopus first catalogued during the German Deep Sea Expedition of 1898-99, one of the earliest scientific voyages to systematically survey life in the ocean’s depths. This plate captures its pale, webbed arms and soft, rounded head in fine, hand-finished detail.
